Route Submission Terms

These are the terms accepted with route submissions under this version. They supplement the DirtWatts Terms of service.
Required confirmations
I personally recorded this ride and have the rights and permissions needed to submit this file for the uses described below. It does not contain third-party route data that I am not authorized to share for those uses.
I grant Doey Apps LLC, operator of DirtWatts, a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, edit, and create a virtual trail from this file, and to display and distribute the resulting trail through DirtWatts, including paid subscriptions. I agree to the Route Submission Terms.
6. Route Submission Terms (version 2026-10-21)
The public submission form accepts outdoor rides you personally recorded. You confirm you have all rights and permissions needed for the uses below, including commercial use, and that the file does not contain third-party route data you are not authorized to share for those uses. Do not upload routes downloaded or copied from Trailforks or other route libraries. If you have written permission for a third-party route, contact routes@dirtwatts.com for separate review. Exporting or converting a file does not remove its source restrictions.
You retain any ownership rights you hold in your recording. You grant Doey Apps LLC, operator of DirtWatts, a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, edit, and create a virtual trail from your file, and to display and distribute the resulting trail through DirtWatts, including paid subscriptions. This includes processing by service providers acting for us, limited to operating and providing DirtWatts. Submission does not guarantee publication, payment, or a credit identifying you.
Remove home/work locations and other sensitive information before uploading. We review public route files for sensitive information before publication. The virtual trail may preserve the real-world route geometry and characteristics derived from the recording, such as roughness and reference speeds. We do not publish your original attachment, heart-rate or power recordings, device serial number, or recording timestamps. Do not submit closed trails, hidden or restricted trail data, or routes that disclose private locations without permission. A virtual route does not grant permission to enter land or ride a real trail.
You can request withdrawal or deletion at privacy@dirtwatts.com. We will stop new processing of the original file and handle personal-data deletion under our Privacy Policy. The licence lasts while we need the original file for that processing. For virtual trails already published, the licence to use the resulting trail continues after withdrawal or account deletion, provided the trail does not identify you or disclose your heart-rate or power recordings. This does not limit your statutory privacy rights or our handling of a valid rights complaint.
We may reject, unpublish, or remove a route if permission, source attribution, or privacy is unresolved. Report copyright, data-use, or attribution concerns to routes@dirtwatts.com with the route name, your rights or authority, the concern, and contact details. A contributor's confirmation or an attribution does not replace permission required from a third party.
